iPhone Duo pre-orders slipped to January 25 half an hour after opening

What happened
Apple said in a statement to the Financial Times that demand for the iPhone Duo has been "nothing short of extraordinary."[1] By 5:30 a.m., delivery estimates reached January 25.[1] Macworld called it "the furthest we've ever seen iPhone pre-orders slip."[2] A report from Nikkei Asia last month said Apple was making just a few hundred iPhone Duo units per day.[4] On eBay, a 1TB model already sold for $3,777.77.[2] Pricing on the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and goes up to $3,199 for 2TB of storage.[1]

What the video doesn't say
Shipping dates for the Duo (white, 256GB) slipped to December 14-21 in the U.K.[2] As of 8:30 a.m. ET, some users were even seeing January 29 for their estimated shipping date.[4] The stock rose 0.43% to close at $343.46 during a broad tech selloff.[3] Dan Ives of Yorkville Ives projects about 10 million Duos sold over the next few quarters.[3] Those are his forecasts, and Apple has given none.[3]

The first orders will be delivered to customers on October 23.[1] Apple's site tells shoppers to check back on October 24 for store availability.[3]
